Barely a week after its release, iPhone hackers succeeded in cracking the shell mode. After this, they are able to get full access to iPhone’s interactive shell. Hackers have already succeeded in breaking iPhone firmware.

we got a serial console working, here is how
the serial has the same pinouts as iPod serial
use a 6.8kish resistor from pin 21 to gnd
tie pin 11-sergnd to the real ground
use iphoneinterface to send the following commands in recovery mode:
setenv debug-uarts 1
saveenv
reboot

Looks like iPhone is building up a strong budding hacking community. Hopefully, we would see a stronger development community working on the iPhone giving us applications as good the phone itself.
